The Oaks
Open Gardens Victoria will open The Oaks for the first time on the first weekend of February, 2025. This stunning 3500 square metre garden is located in one of Ballarat’s most beautiful and iconic suburbs, just five minutes walk from the city’s famous Lake Wendouree and the Ballarat Botanical Gardens. Owners Harry and Alison Zehnwirth built the house and original garden in 1989. The garden has been rejuvenated by landscape designer Paddy Milne. The grand old oak trees give the property a park-like feel and provide essential microclimates for a number of shade-loving plants.
The owner’s proceeds from this opening will be donated to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens Foundation.
