The Garden of Hope in Templestowe is a vibrant, evolving 1600m2 landscape created by garden designer and former oncologist Jacquie Chirgwin, whose passion for gardening grew from a career of nurturing others. This thoughtfully designed space is opening for one day only in December and again in April 2026, offering visitors the unique opportunity to experience its changing beauty across summer and autumn.
This is Jacquie’s second ‘Garden of Hope’, the original, much-loved version developed over decades in Park Orchards. Now three years into its new life, this garden surrounds a modern home and blends structure with joyful planting. Flowing garden beds filled with salvias, euphorbias, agastaches, nepeta, geums, echinaceas and grasses wrap around open lawns and entertaining spaces, anchored by majestic eucalypts and treasured feature trees.
Carefully curated colour zones, especially tones of pink, create harmony and seasonal interest, while clipped forms and perennial layers provide year-round rhythm. The newly established front picking garden is still finding its personality, while a native garden along the drive and front bank thrives in tough soil.
Full of warmth, creativity and personal meaning, the Garden of Hope is a space of resilience and beauty, designed to inspire, nurture and bring joy in every season.
Please note: This garden will also open Sunday April 19, 2026 (10am-4.30pm). Tickets for both days (December 7, 2025 and April 19, 2026) are $18 for adults.
Tickets are available online via TryBooking: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1474275?date=2025-12-07
