| Part of The Great Trentham Spudfest – Discovery Day, this special behind-the-scenes workshop at Fleurs de Lyonville invites visitors to step onto a working flower farm and learn how growers prepare for the changing seasons. Owners Janae and Chris Paquin-Bowden will lead a guided farm walk and practical workshop exploring how the farm is readied for winter and set up for a productive spring ahead. Ideal for gardeners, flower lovers and aspiring growers, the session covers succession planning, winter soil care, composting and mulching, organic pest management and preparing beds using no-dig methods. Guests will see what’s currently planted across the farm and take part in hands-on tulip planting, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions along the way. The small-group workshop runs for approximately two to two-and-a-half hours and includes refreshments. Spudfest Discovery Day opens the gates to farms, gardens and makers across Trentham and neighbouring towns, offering a chance to explore the region’s rich volcanic soils and learn directly from the people who grow here year-round. |
