Caelum Open Garden

The gardens at Caelum were originally created in 1994 by landscape designer Grant Saltmarsh, nurtured by former owners Margaret and Mal Pisaro, and now passed onto the current owners, who continue to enhance the garden.

The 1.5-acre garden includes a sunken garden, a caged vegetable garden, and meandering paths flanked by perennial beds and mature fruit trees, often ducking off into secret hidden corners. Salvia beds will be in full bloom, as will other perennial plantings along the walks and shrubs tucked amongst the canopy of rare and unusual maples. A highlight is the large stone fountain with its accompanying formal gardens.

Visitors will discover a collection of rare and unusual plants and trees that thrive in the microclimates of the garden, supplied by Stephen Ryan’s local Dicksonia Rare Plants Nursery.

Caelum is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri people. Open Gardens Victoria wish to acknowledge the Traditional custodians of this land and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
