The Artful Meadow Garden Tour

Part of The Great Trentham Spudfest – Discovery Day, The Artful Meadow invites visitors to explore a cool-climate garden shaped by the rhythms of the seasons.
For Discovery Day, guests can join one of three guided tours through the prairie-style garden, nursery and pick-your-own flower farm. Designed around naturalistic planting, biodiversity and artistry, the garden shifts dramatically across the year — from spring bulb meadows to vibrant summer plantings, autumn colour and the sculptural beauty of winter. During the 45-minute tours, visitors will learn about the garden’s evolving seasonal palette and the ecological principles behind its design.
Along the way, guests can pick from a selection of autumn blooms and explore the on-site nursery, which specialises in cool-climate perennials, shrubs and trees, including many rare and unusual varieties.

Spudfest Discovery Day opens the gates to farms, gardens and makers across Trentham and neighbouring towns, offering a chance to explore the region’s rich volcanic soils and learn directly from the people who grow here year-round.
