Celeriac

Celeriac makes up for its unglamorous appearance by being a versatile veg in the kitchen.

When to plant/sow in zone:
Requirements: Best grown in part shade; keep moist
Soil: Prepare soil by weeding, and digging through compost and well-rotted manure.
How to start: SEED: Best sown in punnets or trays into seed-raising mix, 5mm deep. Keep moist. Germinates in 14-21 days. SEEDLING: Plant outside when seedlings have their first set of true leaves, at about 5-10cm+ tall. Space 30cm apart, in rows 80cm apart. Water in and mulch with straw.
How to grow: Keep moist and mulched with straw. Apply seaweed solution or liquid fertiliser fortnightly. Apply organic fertiliser pellets monthly.
When to harvest: Start harvesting from 16 weeks, as required. Gently pull it out of the ground, loosening with a garden fork if needed.
