When to plant/sow in zone:
Requirements:
Full sun to part shade with at least three hours of sun; very well drained; don't overfeed
Soil:
Well-drained soil. Don't add compost or manure.
How to start: SEED: Sow direct or in punnets into seed-raising mix, 5mm deep. Keep moist. Germinates in 7-14 days. SEEDLING: Plant in the ground when seedlings are 5-10cm+ tall. Space 50cm apart. NOTE: Oregano seeds are small - they can be mixed with sand or seed-raising mix prior to planting.
How to grow: Keep on the drier side - oregano doesn't like to be too wet. Apply seaweed solution or liquid fertiliser fortnightly. If soil is poor, apply organic fertiliser pellets monthly.
When to harvest: Start harvesting from 4 weeks, cutting or pinching off leaves as required.
Troubleshooting:
Aphids; spider mite
