Saltbush

Leaves from this native shrub can be treated like a herb or leafy green.

When to plant/sow in zone:
Requirements: Full sun to part shade. Well-drained. Keep on the drier side.
Soil: Well-drained soil. Don't add compost or manure.
How to start: SEED: Sow in punnets or small pots, into seed-raising mix, 2mm deep. Keep moist. Germinates in 14-28 days. SEEDLING: Plant outside when seedlings are 10cm+ tall.
How to grow: Keep on the drier side - saltbush doesn't like to be too wet. Apply seaweed solution fortnightly. If soil is poor, apply organic fertiliser pellets every 2-3 months.
When to harvest: Harvest saltbush from 6-8 weeks, when the plant is large enough.
Troubleshooting: Powdery mildew
