Used as a spinach substitute, this plant forms a dense groundcover that dies back in winter.
When to plant/sow in zone:
Requirements:
Full sun, loves the heat. Room to spread. Prefers it on the dry side.
Soil:
Very well-drained soil. Don't add compost or manure.
How to start: Sow seed direct or start in a pot. May self-seed from previous crop. Can also be grown from rooting cuttings in water first.
How to grow: Once established, keep plants on the dry side. Grows well in pots. Apply seaweed solution fortnightly.
When to harvest: Start harvesting from 4 weeks, picking the young leaves and tips when shoots are about 30cm.
