When to plant/sow in zone:
Requirements:
Needs a permanent spot in full sun. Grow in very well-drained soil or a large container.
Soil:
Very well-drained soil. Don't add compost or manure.
How to start: SEED: Sow direct or in punnets or 10cm pots, into seed raising mix. Sow 5mm deep. Keep moist. Germinates in 7-21 days. SEEDLING: Plant in the ground when seedlings are 5-10cm+ tall. If growing more than one plant, space them 50cm apart. Can be grown in a 20-30cm pot in premium potting mix.
How to grow: Keep on the drier side - sage doesn't like to be too wet. Apply seaweed solution or liquid fertiliser fortnightly. If soil is poor, apply organic fertiliser pellets monthly.
When to harvest: Harvest sage from 6 weeks, when it's needed.
Troubleshooting:
Slugs and snails; wilt; powdery mildew
