‘Re-Wilding’ is the second solo exhibition by eco artists Annelies Jahn and Jane Burton Taylor, who have worked collaboratively for the past six years. The exhibition, at Chrissie Cotter Gallery in Camperdown, will invite visitors to enter an immersive space, activated not just visually, but through scent, sound, and scale. Through a series of artworks, Annelies and Jane explore the history, ecology and restoration of Sydney’s once-prolific  turpentine-ironbark plant community.

Dates:

Exhibition dates: June 26 to July 13 (Wednesday to Sunday, 11am–4pm)
Opening event: Saturday, June 28 (1.30–3.30pm) to be opened by Karen Smith, the Aboriginal Education Officer of the Aboriginal Heritage Office, Freshwater, NSW.

Other events:

  • Sunday, June 29 at 12pm: Performance, Sapling, drawing of a young Sydney turpentine-ironbark
  • TBC on either Wednesday, July 2 or Wednesday, July 9: Ecological workshop on planting for local wildlife in verges and gardens run by Adam Ward of Inner West Council
  • Sunday, July 6 at 12pm: Artists talk
  • Drawing workshop date to be advised after ecological workshop is scheduled
  • Sunday July 13: Closing event with talk by Michael Hill, Head of Art History and initiator or Ecology course at National Art School (NAS), Darlinghurst, NSW.
