Chelsea Australian Garden Talk

Join acclaimed landscape designer Phillip Johnson for an inspiring talk about the journey of the award-winning Chelsea Australian Garden, from its world-first success at London’s prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in 2013 to its spectacular re-creation in the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, Olinda.

Designed by Phillip Johnson in collaboration with horticulturist Wes Fleming and the Trailfinders Team, the original garden made history as the first Australian entry to win both Gold and Best in Show. A decade later, Phillip brought this vision home, scaling it up more than twentyfold to create a breathtaking, sustainable landscape on a section of the former Olinda Golf Course.

The new garden champions biodiversity and habitat creation, with 15,000 plants across more than 400 Australian species, including endangered flora like the Wollemi Pine. It features sustainable design: water-wise planting, solar power, bushfire resilience, and the creative reuse of reclaimed materials.

Phillip Johnson Landscapes will maintain the garden for at least 10 years at their own cost, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to public green space. Some of the proceeds from this event will go toward the ongoing care of the Chelsea Australian Garden.
