This year, the renowned Nordic lifestyle brand, Fiskars, will celebrate its remarkable 375th anniversary.
The company best known for its iconic orange-handled scissors, has pioneered the ageless principles of quality, timeless design, and functionality with products designed for gardening, creating and cooking.
Founded in 1649 by Peter Thorwöste, Fiskars has blossomed into a global powerhouse, providing gardeners from over 100 countries, with a vast array of innovative products to tackle their tasks, big and small.
Honouring heritage with purpose
The design team behind the Fiskars brand are endlessly inspired by Nordic minimalism, pure nature, and the “opportunity to do things just a bit better.” Nathalie Ahlström, President and CEO of Fiskars Group, says the same spirit will guide their anniversary events; “we want to honour our heritage with a sharp focus on the things that make us Fiskars.”
Consequently, many of the anniversary celebrations will take place in the historic Fiskars Village, Finland, also known as Fiskars River, which at the time powered the ironwork company’s manufacturing but has now become a buzzing art and design hub. Events include the Fiskars Village Art and Design Biennale during Finland’s summer, and the Fiskars Festival Orchestra in August. Fiskars employees can expect activities around the company’s birthday on October 31, which will explore the company history and give something back.
