Pink Bloom Party

Party amongst the blooms

What better way to enjoy your spring garden than by hosting a Pink Bloom Party to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This October, Breast Cancer Trials is encouraging supporters to gather their family, friends and community together for a Pink Bloom Party to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every dollar raised helps fund lifesaving clinical trials research, improving the effectiveness of treatments and quality of life for the 21,000 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Participants who sign up to host a Pink Bloom Party will receive a free Host Party Pack, complete with invitations, recipes and decorations to make their events bloom. There are also some amazing host perks to unlock and the chance to win great prizes. Supporters can sign up via the registration form on the website www.pinkbloomparty.org.au

Here are a few options for hosting:

  1. Throw a party at home or in the garden and gather your friends and family. Whether it’s dinner on the deck, brunch amongst the blooms, a picnic on the lawn or a high tea in the garden, the options are endless.
  1. Hold a pink-themed morning tea, bake sale or bbq at your workplace, club or community centre.
  1. Not keen to host at home? Head to your local park or garden and enjoy a picnic dressed in pink.

We’ve put together some tips and ideas to help you plan the ultimate spring garden party.

Prepare your garden for a bloom party

  • Refresh your outdoor spaces so they are ready for entertaining. Clean decks with a scrubbing brush or broom, using an organic cleaner, and apply eco-friendly decking oil. Scrub paved areas with water and chemical-free detergent.
  • Trim, weed and feed the lawn now to get it looking lush – it’ll be the perfect spot to lay out a rug and some cushions and have a picnic!
  • Looking to brighten up a corner of your outdoor space? Add some instant colour with advanced perennials and annuals in bloom – perfect for planting straight into a garden bed, pot, or hanging basket for immediate impact. Great options include pansies, petunias, lobelias, cineraria (pictured below), dwarf azalea, kangaroo paw, and everlastings.
  • Breathe life into your existing potted plants – or indoor plants if you’re hosting indoors – with a trim, fresh potting mix, an application of seaweed solution and a sprinkle of slow-release fertiliser.

Ideas to make your party a blooming success!

  • Use fresh-cut flowers from your garden and pop them into vases for beautiful table centrepieces.
  • Add an interactive activity for your guests – perhaps a herb-potting station so they can take home a little plant, a paint-and-sip featuring garden blooms, or a fun cupcake-decorating session with edible flowers!
  • Thinking of hosting an evening soiree? Make your entertaining spaces magical with festoon lights or solar-powered fairy lights – hang them from a pergola, weave them through greenery and let them sparkle in the trees.
  • Show off your outdoor kitchen – garnish dishes and drinks with fresh herbs from the garden and use your own citrus to make lemonade, desserts, and more.
