Festive table inspired by nature

Seeking ideas for your festive table? Look to foliage and fresh blooms to help kickstart the celebrations.
One of the joys of the festive season is the chance to gather with family and friends around
a shared table. And what better way to elevate the occasion than with an arrangement of fresh foliage and blooms? It brings life to the table, and with a little bit of creativity, even the simplest of floral flourishes can make a statement.
In the picture above, we’ve used native foliage mixed with flowers – some foraged, some bought, some native, some exotic – plus gumnuts and fruit to create a palette of dusty greens, silvers and reds.
Festive baubles
Easy to create, these baubles of greenery can sit casually on the table as part of a centrepiece, or hang from a pot plant or tree. You’ll find fillable baubles in most craft stores. Simply pick a sprig of your favourite foliage and pop it into the bauble. Attach a piece of ribbon, twine or suede string (pictured) and
you have a decoration that sparkles with nature.

Welcome gestures
A touch of greenery adds that special something to your gift wrapping. Use plain wrapping paper in natural tones and embellish gifts with twine, foliage and dried orange slices.

Native flourishes
Aussie natives work well for flourishes such as napkin decorations (see below), as they tend not to wilt in the warm weather. You can wrap napkins using decorative twine available from craft stores (we used jute and suede cord), or use any ribbons or garden string you have at home!
