The 1.6-acre garden at Banool in Melbourne’s Ringwood North has been lovingly restored and updated to show off its grand original trees and stonework. Created around a historically significant stone residence (circa 1936), the property feels like a beautiful country estate.

Visitors’ first experience is a front garden of mature banksias, wattles and other native shrubs, which nicely merge with the neighbouring garden and attract a number of native birds including gang gang and yellow tailed cockatoos and nesting wattle birds.

Topiary pear trees laden with ripe yellow fruit, vines dripping with plump green grapes, pencil pines in pretty pots, flowering bird of paradise plants, birds, frogs, fish and fountains are just some of the stars of her amazing colourful garden – and they are all made of mosaic.

The Malvern Gardens, one in Clifton Street and the other in Wattle Street, are back-to-back properties owned by two generations of a garden-loving family.
